Introducing Voysey House Volume I: A Bold Reimagining of an Arts & Crafts Icon

Step into the world of C. F. A. Voysey with the launch of the Voysey House Volume I wallpaper collection. This landmark release celebrates the enduring influence of a visionary architect and designer who, alongside contemporaries, defined the very soul of the Arts & Crafts movement.

This collection offers a sophisticated, forward-looking reimagining of Voysey’s unmistakable style. Known for his unique ability to blend playful charm with a disciplined, architectural structure, his work remains just as compelling today as it was at the turn of the 20th century. By exploring heritage through an unexpected lens, these luxury designs bridge the gap between historic craftsmanship and modern, 21st-century sensibilities.

The Intersection of Architectural Structure and Playful Narrative

Voysey was a true innovator, a design rebel whose work confidently championed the unusual. While other artists filled archives with dense, lush foliage, Voysey brought a clean, graphic clarity to his patterns. He balanced flattened forms and rhythmic motifs with an irreverent narrative charm, making his work the sophisticated, slightly subversive sibling to traditional Arts & Crafts styling.

This new collection masterfully translates his nature-inspired drawings into a suite of recolored, contemporized patterns. By introducing a fresh, modern palette alongside shimmering metallic grounds and innovative base papers, the design studio has created a series that feels both historically significant and entirely current.

“This collection reimagines the original designs of C. F. A. Voysey and adapts them for today’s interiors,” says Rebecca Craig, Head of Design. “We’ve taken the essence of his work, his stylised nature, narrative charm, and strong graphic structure, and refined it through contemporary scale, colour, and materials. It’s a visual crossroads between both heritage and modern wallpapers

Historic Craftsmanship Meets Modern Innovation

True to the foundational principles of British heritage, this launch is built upon exceptional artistry. Every single wallpaper has been designed in the London studio, based inside Voysey House in Chiswick. Originally constructed as a wallpaper factory in 1902, this Grade II* listed building is Voysey’s only commercial structure and now proudly houses the design archive.

Honoring this legacy, the patterns are brought to life in the UK at a historic factory using state-of-the-art printing methods. From advanced digital techniques that replicate the tactile feel of grasscloth to rich rotary metallic bases that add luminous depth, this commitment to artistic rigor ensures every roll possesses incredible texture and creative integrity.
