This wallpaper was inspired by a carpet that was handwoven at Merton Abbey, which Morris & Co. exhibited at the 1893 Arts & Crafts Society exhibition. The design probably came from the enormous Persian original hung by Morris in his dining room at Kelmscott Manor.
