May Morris, William Morris’ daughter, was a remarkable artist in her own right. But with the Honeysuckle 1883 design, it would only be apparent after years of archival research that it was actually her work – not her father’s – under which it had been historically misattributed.
Known best for her embroidery (May took over the Morris & Co embroidery department when she was 23), it’s only a recent reappraisal of her work within the turn of the century that May Morris is getting her deserved recognition.
